The Graduate Division and Molecular Biology Interdepartmental Graduate Program recognizes the importance of professional development for its doctoral students and have conference travel funding available for the purpose of facilitating advanced students’ development outside the classroom.
IMPORTANT! Please refer to the Guidelines for Traveling Abroad prior to making any international travel plans. There are very specific guidelines and planning that has to be done before you are able to travel internationally on either Graduate Division or MBI-DP funds.
Please click on each funding opportunity below and carefully review the information provided for respective eligibility guidelines, deadlines, and procedures in order to be approved for funding. Additional information is also provided in the Student Handbook.
New and continuing UCLA doctoral students will be eligible to request up to $1,000 to reimburse travel expenses for attending professional conferences. The reimbursement can be used at any time through your enrollment in the doctoral program as long as the activity meets the eligibility requirements.
Criteria for funding:
- Student’s compliance with time-to-degree and participation requirements. Students who have advanced to candidacy but are not up-to-date on program participation requirements are ineligible for conference travel funding.
- Student has submitted their travel request within the required time frame for conference travel (one month prior to the quarter conference travel will be in). Reimbursement will occur after travel and documentation must be submitted within 30 days of completion of travel.
- MB-IDP will consider providing no more than 50% of eligible expenses. Cost-sharing is essential. This can be from the student’s mentor or other funding source (e.g. graduate division funding, training grant, individual fellowship, conference organizers). We encourage you to request the support of the meeting organizers. Occasionally, there is conference participant funding available for specific groups.
