Each year, Faculty, postdocs, students and guests of the Molecular Biology Institute gather at an Annual Retreat. The program is organized by student representatives from the Molecular Biology Interdepartmental Ph.D. Program, the Cellular and Molecular Biology Training Program and the Cell-Biology Interface Training Program. It includes scientific presentations by MBI students and Faculty and a keynote address from a guest speaker, in addition to a student poster session, career development panel and valuable time to socialize and network. The retreat offers the opportunity for the entire MBI community; students, postdocs and faculty, to explore the diverse intellectual pursuits that comprise modern molecular biology at UCLA.
The 2017 Annual Retreat was held at the Crowne Plaza Ventura Beach on April 22nd – 23rd 2017. The Keynote Speaker was Eva Nogales, Ph.D., a HHMI Investigator from the Molecular and Cell Biology Department at UC Berkeley.
